FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q: How much riding time is my lesson?

A: Private and semi-private lessons are 1 hour. Group lessons are between 1-1.5 hours. Horsemanship lessons are 30 minutes. Riding time is dependent on experience. If you or your child can not get the horse groomed and tacked up properly on your own, that is part of your lesson time. Advanced riders may come 10-15 minutes prior to lesson time if they are able to get their horse groomed and tacked up on their own, and be able to start their lesson immediately. Riding can not be crunched into a timed window limit.

Horses are not soccer balls or baseball bats, and have a mind of their own. Horse welfare and rider horsemanship is on the forefront of lessons; what that means is some days a horse or rider could need more time to work on a challenging exercise, and some days a horse or rider may finish a lesson early after accomplishing a goal to end on a good note, and other days part of the lesson is understanding animal welfare and managing riding in hotter or colder temperatures and learning as a rider how to navigate circumstances of welfare during lessons. All of our lessons are geared towards teaching riders how to independently and safely ride, learn, and meet criteria to move up in experience level.

Q: Do you schedule farm tours?

A: Our staff's time at the barn includes general care of animals, facility management, projects, training rides, and teaching lessons. What little free time our staff may have outside of lessons is extremely limited and many days at the farm are no less than dawn to dusk. Please understand that we feel you will get the best experience and feel for our farm in an introductory lesson which is required to join our program, at which time you will be able to see the farm, meet the horses, and see if our barn is a good fit for you. Please do not show up without scheduling. Our staff will not allow anyone on the property without an appointment as it is a private facility.

Q: Why do you require a weekly commitment?

A: Just like any other sport, the more you practice, the better you get.
