Rider Progression Program
(Hunter/Jumper • Dressage • Eventing)

At Oakwood Farm, our lesson program is designed around consistency, horsemanship, and thoughtful rider development. Riders advance through clearly defined levels based on participation, readiness, and instructor approval — creating a structured, supportive pathway for both youth and adult riders.

Level I — Foundations Rider (1 lesson per week)
The Foundations Rider level is the starting point for all riders new to Oakwood Farm or returning to riding. Includes: One scheduled lesson per week, use of Oakwood school horses. Focus on safety, position, balance, and correct fundamentals. Introduction to flatwork, poles, and jumping as appropriate. Ideal for new riders, casual adult riders, younger youth, or riders building confidence.

Level II — Development Rider (2 lessons per week)
The Development Rider level is designed for riders seeking faster progress through increased consistency and saddle time. Includes: Two scheduled lessons per week, priority scheduling, more consistent horse assignments when possible, goal-based instruction across hunter/jumper, dressage, or eventing foundations, eligibility for the Lease Program after a minimum commitment period. Minimum Requirement: Riders must remain at this level for 60–90 consecutive days (per instructor's discretion) before leasing consideration.

Level III — Lease Program Rider Partial lease + mandatory lesson participation
The Lease Program represents a significant step in rider responsibility and commitment. Requirements: Approved partial lease, minimum of one lesson per week. Includes: Assigned lease horse, defined riding days, increased independence and horsemanship education, priority access to clinics, camps, and shows. Leasing is a privilege earned through consistency and readiness. Riders may not lease without active participation in the lesson program.
